Renewal and Extension of the Vocational and Continuing Education Centre Toggenburg, Wattwil
Campus Wattwil brings together two school types on a shared site for the first time in the canton of St. Gallen: the new Kantonsschule Wattwil (KSW) and the expanded Berufs- und Weiterbildungszentrum Toggenburg (BWZT), including indoor sports facilities. The coordinated delivery of both projects enables efficient sharing of infrastructure while increasing flexibility for both institutions.
The heart of the campus orients itself towards the Thur river, forming the connecting element between the two school buildings. A varied landscape of open spaces — with areas for gathering as well as quieter retreats — defines the outdoor realm. On the ground floor of each building, publicly accessible zones foster encounter among students, staff, and external visitors alike. An independent network of paths and squares roots the campus in its surroundings while giving it a distinct and legible identity.

Der Entwurf des neuen Stadions integriert sich harmonisch in die umgebende Landschaft und Topografie. Die Gebäudegeometrie greift die charakteristische Flächigkeit des Sportparks und des Mauerparks auf und überführt sie in ein zeitgemäßes, barrierefreies Konzept. Der historische Kontext bleibt für die Nutzer erlebbar. Der zentrale Boulevard verbindet das Stadion mit den Sportpark-Gebäuden und schafft eine attraktive Begegnungs- und Aktivitätszone. Das asymmetrische Stadionvolumen öffnet sich zum Boulevard hin, während die Erschließung durch zwei Rampen entlang des Trümmerhügels eine uneingeschränkt inklusive Zugänglichkeit für alle Nutzer gewährleistet.
