Consolidation of Bruggen and Haggen Stations, St. Gallen
The consolidation of Bruggen and Haggen stations forms the cornerstone of a broader urban densification, bringing new scales, grain, and programmes to both neighbourhoods. The project aims not for functional compromise but for a clear architectural statement with a distinct identity.
Two stair towers with bold canopies define the addresses of the new combined station — visible from afar, immediately legible. A new footbridge spans the topography, linking the mobility hubs of both communities; along its entire length, the retaining wall doubles as continuous public seating.
The landscape design creates quality public spaces across multiple levels: from the animated station forecourt in Bruggen, with its water basin and curved timber bench, to the planted carpet marking the bridge's end in Haggen. Pedunculate oaks, Judas trees, and flowering meadows give the new place its character.

Der Entwurf des neuen Stadions integriert sich harmonisch in die umgebende Landschaft und Topografie. Die Gebäudegeometrie greift die charakteristische Flächigkeit des Sportparks und des Mauerparks auf und überführt sie in ein zeitgemäßes, barrierefreies Konzept. Der historische Kontext bleibt für die Nutzer erlebbar. Der zentrale Boulevard verbindet das Stadion mit den Sportpark-Gebäuden und schafft eine attraktive Begegnungs- und Aktivitätszone. Das asymmetrische Stadionvolumen öffnet sich zum Boulevard hin, während die Erschließung durch zwei Rampen entlang des Trümmerhügels eine uneingeschränkt inklusive Zugänglichkeit für alle Nutzer gewährleistet.
