New Fish Center in Moosseedorf (CH)

At Lake Moossee near Bern, the Fish Center Switzerland is being developed as a new educational and experience center that makes underwater life visible and accessible to a broad public.

Following a quality-based architectural selection process, the project by Felippi Wyssen, ZMIK, and Westpol was chosen for further development.

The design proposes a timber structure carefully embedded in the landscape, with gabled roofs oriented toward the lake, referencing the historic pile dwellings once found at Moossee. The project creates a sensitive transition between built form and the protected shoreline, with boardwalks providing direct access to the water.

While the publicly accessible areas open toward the lake, the research wing is oriented toward the village. In this way, the project brings together education, research, and nature into a coherent place with a strong connection to its surroundings.
