Settlement Mooshalde, Männedorf

The project redefines the existing Mooshalde housing estate as a sustainable and future-oriented residential environment. By retaining and upgrading key buildings while selectively replacing others, the proposal combines densification with respect for the existing urban structure.

Four existing buildings are preserved and carefully renovated, maintaining their spatial qualities while improving energy performance. New timber buildings complement the ensemble, forming a permeable settlement structure with a clear internal organization and strong spatial relationships.

The phased transformation allows residents to remain on site, preserving the social fabric of the neighborhood. A new circulation concept prioritizes pedestrians and connects all buildings through a central shared space.

Energy strategies include geothermal heating, photovoltaic integration, and resource-efficient construction. The landscape design enhances biodiversity, improves microclimate, and creates diverse, high-quality outdoor spaces.
