Vertical Lab Schlieren

The Vertical Lab Schlieren emerged from a single-stage selective competition in 2022, where it was awarded 3rd prize.

The design is conceived as a clearly articulated composition of a base and a rising tower, complemented by two laterally positioned, eccentric cores. The base distinguishes itself geometrically from the main volume and opens towards the surrounding Rietpark with folded, light-directing elements on all sides, creating a strong connection between interior spaces and the landscape.

Above, the main building volume rises vertically and extends longitudinally beyond the service layers. In these areas, it opens generously towards its surroundings, addressing both the Rietpark and the wider Geistlich site. As a distinctive high point, the Vertical Lab establishes a strong architectural presence within its urban context.
